Random funny...

Prologue: We have a Beta fish named Casey.

Story: We were all sitting at the table eating dinner tonight. I had fixed asparagus, potato salad, fruit & tilapia. Kendal had eaten most everything on her plate but had yet to touch the tilapia. I said to her, "Kendal take a bite of your fish...". She looked at me and said "no eat Casey". It was priceless.

Sick-O-Rama 2008

Seriously. We've all been sick- for a long time. Not all at once- thank god- but all sick nonetheless. But Chris has finally won the crown and been diagnosed with the flu. Such a prize to win. He's NASTY. In case you yearn for details... he's barfing, high fever, sore throat, nasty/glazy red eyes and just a bad case of malaise. I'm pretty sure that if he met his maker today he would be OK with it.

Grant has had a lot of upper respiratory problems (aka asthma). Kendal's had snot, fever, chest gunk. And let's just say Chris and I have battled for the toilet a lot lately.... I went to the Dr. on Wednesday sure I had strep or the flu, but both came back negative. I was put on an antibiotic and it cleared up whatever I had.

And to top it all off- we're having a garage sale tomorrow! Maybe the proceeds can go to covering our Rx expenditures....

I have new videos of the kids I'll post soon. Here's to your health! :)

::::: First post of 2008 :::::

Hmmmm- what has happened since I last wrote. LOTS!

Grant turned 4!: We had his birthday party at ASI Gymnastics with about 20 of his friends. The kids ran around, jumped, bounced & flipped for an hour and then we had Shrek cake and ice cream. Grant really enjoyed it- although, he still isn't sure about turning 4. So if you ask him how old he is, he usually says 3 or 5. Apparently being 4 has lots of added pressure.

December: Grant made his first trip to the Emergency Room. (Well really it's the 2nd, but I got mad at how long we had to wait and left before we were seen. It was just a split lip...) Anyways, Grant had a very bad cold. He had RSV and a baby and tends to cough when he is sick. Well, he had a cough- one that he couldn't shake. He was trying to fall asleep one night and this is what he sounded like: cough, hack, try to catch a breath, wheeze, cough, hack, try to catch a breath, wheeze, etc, etc. He was basically having an asthma attack. But the Dr's didn't call it that- it was some pulmonary distress thing-a-ma-bob. We stayed at the hospital about 5 hours, got his breathing under control and then were back home and life was good.

Christmas: We spent a few days in Kentucky before Christmas, and then spent Christmas at home. Lots and lots of new toys- a few they are still playing with...

New Years Eve: We're officially lame & old. We put the kids to bed, turned on the baby monitor and went across the street to our neighbors house. No fancy dinners or parties for us!

January: Both kids are taking swim lessons. Grant had another round of evaluations done at the Shelton School. Chris & I have a meeting there on 2/7 to go over the results of his testing. Keep your fingers crossed! We spent some time at the lake, went to the Dallas Zoo, went bowling (Grant LOVED!) and a million, zillion other things.

Here are some pictures. Enjoy!

Long time no talk...

Things have been busy yet fun around here. In October we went to the State Fair of Texas, went to several fall festivals, Grant and Chris went to Kentucky & of course Halloween. November has been fun too- with birthday parties, swim lessons, soccer and school- we have been on the go.

Grant is turning FOUR on December 1st. I can't believe it- he's my big boy! He's been doing great at school. We have started exploring our school options for next year and are in the process of testing at a school called Shelton here in Dallas. We think it is a really great fit for him- hopefully the feeling is mutual. It's just a sad state of affairs when the public schools aren't even an option- they are just too bad.

Kendal is 18 months, going on 13 years. She is trying to potty train herself- but I'm trying to not encourage her. I frequently find her pants & diaper off, sitting on the potty. We had her 18 month checkup today- she was 23 pounds (30th percentile) & 32 inches long (60th percentile). She had two shots and did not like it. In fact she is still sleeping it off right now- going on a 3 hour nap.

Here are a few recent pictures of the kids. I'll try and post more soon. Happy upcoming Thanksgiving!

The Black Hole on Meletio Lane

Over the course of the last few years, a strange phenomenon has developed at 5606 Meletio Lane. Things mysteriously disappear, usually permanently. We just can't figure out what is going on.

Take today for example. The kids & I (melanie) went to Whole Foods. We purchased several things including at $8 wedge of Gouda cheese. The cheese made it to our house, and as I was putting things in the refrigerator, these 2 little hands jumped up out of nowhere and grabbed the cheese! It has vanished! So if next time you are at our house and smell something funny, it's probably rotting cheese.

Other things to disappear: Poppie's car keys, a salt and pepper shaker set, my mind, the remote control....

Abby & her cuzzins

Our sweet niece Abby came over to play today. She was smacked up side the head by Kendal, and Grant proclaimed her a 'horsey' and tried to sit on her. But other than that, she loved hanging out with her cousins!
